Mental Health/Co-Occurring Disorder Program Consultant
M.C. Harris is a Community Worker for the L.A. County Dept. of Mental Health where he has been employed for the past 6 years. He was introduced to the mental health peer advocacy program by volunteering at one of their contracting agency. He has 14 years of sobriety from alcohol and drugs and 7 years off of psychotropic medications.
M.C. has received extensive training, certificates and awards in Recovery advocacy and consumer rights from programs such as; Mary Copeland Wellness Recovery Action Plan training (WRAP), The Amer – I – Can ( Life Management ) certificate course, NAMI Family to Family, and NAMI Peer to Peer facilitator course.
He is currently in the process of taking an exam to be certified as a Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) with the Breining Institute. He brings a wealth of resources and recovery knowledge to our organization.
